The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania has adopted the law on establishing the institute of class action in civil cases

As of 1 January 2015 the law amending the Code of Civil Procedure of Lithuania and creating the legal framework for the exercise of the right to file class actions will come into force. The amendments to the law provide that a class action should be based on equivalent or similar factual circumstances and may be filed when a group of claimants seek remedy for the equivalent or similar substantive rights or interests. It is anticipated that the aforementioned amendments to the law will help shorten the duration of court proceedings in civil cases, cut litigation costs and contribute to better protection of the rights of the most vulnerable group of people, e. g. consumers, employees, etc.

The amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure can be found here.
